Our Mission

Family Development Center

Helping parents be the best parents they can be.

Discovery Learning Center

Discovery Center was established in 1978, as a laboratory setting for Colorado Northwestern Community College, later Colorado Mountain College's Early Childhood Education Certificate and Associate Degree Program. The school was housed in a vacant parsonage in Old Town. In 1984, CMC decided to terminate that program. Parents of Discovery Center children formed a non-profit corporation; Steamboat Springs Discovery Learning Center!

Today, Discovery Learning Center is recognized by our NAEYC accreditation as being one of the top programs in the nation. We strive to provide quality child care and education in a supportive environment to our students and their families each and every day.

Newborn Network

In 1994, the Newborn Network was added as a home visitation program and transformed into a family education system in 1995 partnering with Colorado Bright Beginnings (now Bright by Text). In 1996, we moved into a new facility that could better meet the needs of our clients. In 2005, Parents as Teachers was added to our menu of services at the recommendation of First Impressions. In 2017, after being sought out by Clayton Early Learning, we also began providing Play and Learn in South Routt. In 2023, we were able to start offering Play and Learn sessions in Hayden!
