Annual Appeal

Dear Friend of the Family Development Center,

This has been a year like no other. With each obstacle COVID has thrown in our path, we found a way to continue helping the families of the Yampa Valley, as we have been doing for 36 years. The Family Development Center gives parents the skills to be the best parents they can be. We can grow confident, competent, and caring children. But we need your help! As demands for our services have increased, we are more dependent than ever on private donations. Even more so this year as we are unable to have our annual Casino Night fundraiser. So we must seek your support because our community needs us.

Today, I am asking you to contribute $50, $500, or $5,000 so that another young child may benefit from a good and safe start. You may contribute online at Colorado Gives or mail a check to PO Box 773982, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477 [Download Mailing Instructions].

Thanks to gifts like yours, we have served hundreds of young children and families.

Children obtained an excellent early education at Discovery Learning Center -our nationally accredited program.

We were able to shift our education model to virtual programming when COVID shut down our school and reopened on June 1st at full enrollment. The school looks a little different but the laughter, singing, learning, joy, and playing with friends is the same!

$

Awarded to 21 families in scholarships!

Families received assistance in searching for child care across Routt County from Child Care Network.

Through direct services and technical assistance to licensed providers, 8 out of 10, birth-5 year olds are impacted by Family Development Center programming.

Parent education sessions presented by community experts.

These sessions included sharing brain and child development information, as well as lists of local resources to assist in parenting through Newborn Network. Our Newborn Network parent educators served 49 families with 56 children with the nationally recognized Parents as Teachers program pivoting to virtual visits upon the COVID shut-down. These virtual PAT visits and virtual playgroups have allowed parents and families and caregivers to remain connected in the community.

Are you ready to change the life of a child?
